Jean René Gaugain (1936)

Indhold

Fodboldspillere is a bronze sculpture by the Danish-French artist Jean René Gaugain, located at John Stampes Plads in front of the Stadionhallerne. The sculpture stands on a granite pedestal.

The sculpture was a gift to the city from a group of anonymous citizens. The model for one of the figures was Fritz Tarp, a former national team player from B93.

Gaugain had a profound interest in depicting movement, both of humans and animals, which is evident in his works. Jean René Gaugain is also the artist behind Urkraften, which is displayed in the Søjlehallen inside the Stadionhallerne.

Gaugain was the son of the painter Paul Gaugain, who was briefly married to a Danish woman.
