Marcelisa
Miguel Ortiz Berrocal (1996)

Fibreglass with bronze on a glass pedestal.
The sculpture depicts an abstract female figure.
Despite weighing 1,700 kilos, she lies gracefully, reclining atop a pedestal made of tempered glass, creating the illusion that she is floating above the ground.
Marcelisa moved into the Palace Garden in October 1996, after Prince Henrik purchased her during a trip to Italy, where the artist was residing at the time.
Marcelisa is part of a series of three works titled Nudes in the Landscapes. The other two are located in Bordeaux (Petita) and Valencia (Alcudia).
